Casa dos Cantoneiros, an enchanting villa built in 1935
We feel blessed to be able to obtain such a monument. Now we can share it with you too for an extraordinary stay in the historic Casa dos Cantoneiros in the Algarve.
Built in 1935 according to the recognizable Cantoneiros style.
Although it is a monument, it is equipped with all the conveniences of modern age. Sitting in a quiet place near the ancient Moorish city of Aljezur.
Situated in a protected nature reserve, close to the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, but only 20 minutes by car to the beautiful Lagos at the South Coast. Lagos is loved by a lot of tourists for its history and for the outgoing public for its beaches, restaurants and bars.
The old main road, which is a dead end street now, goes over a small bridge leading to Casa dos Cantoneiros. Passing the old house there is no ongoing traffic, except maybe for a lost traveler.
Behind the house you can climb the mountain into the nature reserve. Opposite the house there is an old water mill. Try one of the Medronho fruits on your way. It is delicious, sweet when it is ripe (red) and grows in the wild. The Portuguese even make a local liquor from this irresistable little gem.
Some practical info about Casa dos Cantoneiros
The house is suited for a cosy stay for 2 or with a family of 4 adults and 2 children.
On the ground floor there are 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double bed (140×200), 1 with a bunk bed (normal size).
The mezzanine is equipped with a double bed (160×200) and a small desk (be aware that the ladder to the mezzanine is for the more flexible guests).
The spacious kitchen is equipped with a micro wave oven and coffeemaker, but there is also a coffee bean grinder and French Press for your convenience.
A shower and toilet is situated in the bathroom on the ground floor. In the storage you will find the washing machine. The climate in Portugal is most agreeable but sometimes you might want to warm the house in the winter. When the evening is somewhat chilly or in the colder season, you can start a fire with the wood in the basket and make the house quickly cosy and warm. Besides, there are infrared panels as well as back-up system.
Well, you are in Portugal, so you will be enjoying the garden for most of the time. There is a lot of sun in the garden of Casa dos Cantoneiros, but you can sit in the various shaded place when you prefer. Lay yourself down in the grass or in the original beach chair and enjoy the complete quiet. After all you are on holiday.
The garden invites to stay outside for a long evening and enjoy a family barbecue or bake your own pizza in the outside oven.
Don’t want to cook? At the end of the street, just a stone throw away, there is a vegan restaurant. In Aljezur there are various nice restaurants and a great pizzeria.
No internet once in a while is blissful but we know that your smart phone is also an important asset. So we offer you a Starlink connection for your private WIFI.
The TV is for streaming (no regular channels).
Parking your car is free and plentiful.
Your beds are made and your linen is at your disposal upon arrival.
The house non-smoking and no pets are allowed.
Sustainability is important to us. Therefore we clean the house with ecological cleaning products and we have bio shower products, hand wash and laundry detergent made available for you.
